I have to admit that I feel nervous releasing the first volume today. As a fan of one star reviews on Amazon, I really do not look forward to reading one star reviews of my own work.
Before you say, "Oh, stop being so pessimistic" realize that every single book has at least one bad review. If it doesn't then I get suspicious. That doesn't mean that I'm looking forward to readers latching on to a word choice they don't like or deciding that my brand of vampires is stupid.
My goal with this first novel has been pretty simple--to finish the book. I, like many writers, have started novels in the past, only to get distracted or decide that it's not worth it to finish. Sometimes stories just fizzle out. In the case of this novel, I started writing over ten years ago and after getting encouragement from friends who read early excerpts and the original short story decided it was time to write the whole story out. In the process of that, early readers decided that certain characters were more interesting than others. So did I. And, I heard that they wanted, they expected, this to merely be the first in a series.
There will be more to follow--I'm already mapping the second book with the first one just off the e-presses. I hope that a few folks at least enjoy reading volume I and I encourage folks to provide feedback here. If there is something you have questions about or that you would like to see in the upcoming books, this blog is your place to contribute.
